Vance Lockton is a Strategic Policy and Research Analyst with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or OPC. He’s been with the OPC in a combination of roles – including policy development and analysis, stakeholder outreach, and investigation of complaints under PIPEDA – since 2012. Prior to that, he spent 3 years with the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. During his time with the OPC, he has sought to develop and maintain strong relationships with private sector stakeholders through open and honest discussions of key privacy issues.
The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is Canada’s private sector privacy law. This presentation will overview PIPEDA’s application to the credit and collections industry, highlighting recent findings and developments of relevance to the sector.
