Position Statement

  • As a proud member for the past 2o years, I agree with and promote the Mission, Vison and Values of the Credit Institute of Canada
  • I also fully encourage our membership to be engaged in the business community while promoting the benefits of education and membership with the CIC
  • I believe that my 40 plus years of credit experience has positioned me well to meet the required Qualifications, Skills and Experience set out by the National Board through the  Governance Task Force
  • My previous experience on both the National and Chapter Boards has also provided me further understanding of the role and duties to be served for both local and National membership
  • After serving on two National Conference planning committees, I know that my experience can provide further assistance to the  National office in overseeing the processes to ensure transparency leading to greater success
  • I believe all National Directors must work collectively to bolster the benefits of credit education and ensure the CIC course calendar (English and French) provides a well - designed agenda into the 21st century
  • Nationally, we also need to be working with our local chapters to promote the benefits of CIC membership to other financial organizations such as the Certified Financial Accountants and Canadian Banking Association
  • With many years as a senior manager in credit, I am confident that my overall experience complements the elected team of Directors from across Canada
  • Experiencing the last 4 years as the National Director, Membership, one of which was during COVID 19, we are making excellent progress in engaging membership into the value of belonging to the CIC.
 

Biography 

  • Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec where I started my Credit career with Dun & Bradstreet in 1976.
  • After working in the field of factoring accounts receivable for a subsidiary of the Royal Bank, I relocated to Vancouver in 1985. I was also motivated by the fact that Expo 86 was coming to Vancouver the following summer!
  • Joined the Credit Institute of Canada as a student in the mid 90’s and was able to complete most of the program while attending Simon Fraser University.
  • Graduated with my FCI on May 21, 1999 and have proudly been an active member since then
  • President of Vancouver Credit Grantors Association (consumer credit) 1999 - 2001
  • In the year 2000, I joined as a member of the Western Forum of Credit and Financial Executives, representing them as their National Director on the CIC National Board of Directors from 2001 to 2004.
  • 2005 – 2007 Chairman of the planning committee for the CIC National Conference in Whistler, BC. Certificate of Merit was awarded by CIC National office recognizing the success of the conference
  • Held the position of President, BC Chapter 2009 – 2012. In 2009, BC Chapter was awarded the Quaker Oaks Trophy in their 80th Anniversary
  • 2015 – 2017 Sponsorship Chairman for the planning committee of the CIC National Conference in Vancouver, BC
  • I resumed the position of President, BC Chapter for the period of 2018-2019 when I was elected to serve as BC Chapter’s National Director
  • National Director-BC Chapter 2019 to present
  • Retired as of December 31st, 2020 after being employed with the David Oppenheimer Group as their Senior Manager – Corporate Credit for the past 5 years and being in the credit profession for a total of 45 years.
