April 16 Session

Speaker:

Sohaib Habib, M.Sc., JD

Sohaib is a cryptocurrency lawyer most notably known as the first lawyer in Canada to effect legal service on Defendants by way of a Non-Fungible Token (“NFT”) airdrop. Sohaib is a litigator who also frequently advises cryptocurrency start-ups and technology companies on emerging business structures, including decentralized autonomous organizations (“DAOs”), intellectual property matters, and compliance issues with token launch (“ICOs”).

Topic: Emerging Credit Technologies: Blockchain and “Web 3.0”
This session will provide an introductory overview of blockchain technology, including cryptocurrency tokens, non-fungible tokens (“NFTs”), smart contracts, and decentralized autonomous organizations (“DAOs”). Real life examples will be provided on how credit is being secured on the blockchain through smart contracts to seamlessly facilitate lending and borrowing. Critically, lending and borrowing in this context is done “trustlessly”, meaning there is no third party institution overseeing the lending and borrowing, allowing anyone anywhere in the world to access credit and provide collateral for credit.

Sessions will be scheduled during lunch hours, late afternoons, and early evenings (Eastern Time). Specific times will be confirmed in advance prior to each session.

This schedule is prepared in advance and may be subject to change without notice.
